By removing the very deep bass and using the resonance control to emphasise the bass just above the frequency at which the filter starts to cut the low end you might find the low end you were missing. Even once you’ve shaped and EQed your kick drum track, you may still not be happy with how it’s sitting in the mix. This is the point where compression comes in.
